Women and the Catalan Independence Movement: A Review
La distància de gènere ens permet d’entendre el fenomen estructural i històric de l’absència participativa o la baixa representació que han tingut les dones catalanes dins de la història política del país, i més concretament dins del moviment independentista. L’objectiu d’aquest article és plantejar un estat de la qüestió que ressegueixi genealògicament la presència de les dones que sí que han estat part de la història del catalanisme nacionalista i del gir cap a l’independentisme català, des de principis de segle xx fins a l’actualitat, amb la intenció de restaurar-ne els noms i les militàncies, per tal d’historiar-les amb rigor i poder-les tenir presents com a referents historiogràfics, però també, i sobretot, per al futur del país.

Abstract (English):
A gendered perspective offers an insight into the structural and historical phenomenon of women’s absence or limited participation in the political history of Catalonia in general and within the independence movement in particular. This article aims to provide a genealogical overview that traces the presence of women who have taken part in the history of the Catalan nationalist movement and its shift towards Catalan independence, from the early twentieth century to the present. Acknowledging their names and forms of activism is a means of rigorously historicising them and recognising them as historiographical reference points, not only for scholarship but also—and above all—for the country’s future.
