The Morta-Viva: a look at the health of catalan in Catalonia
Arribats al primer quart del segle xxi, la vitalitat del català a Catalunya descansa en una percepció majoritària de minorització extrema. Aquest article posa damunt la taula les dades sumàries de dos instruments demoscòpics recents, l’Enquesta sociopolítica 2024-2 i l’Enquesta d’usos lingüístics de la població 2023. A partir de la interpretació de les dades, l’autor proposa una interpretació ponderada i no tan especulativa sobre l’horitzó de normalitat en què ens trobem.

Abstract (English):
In the first quarter of the 21st century, the majority perception of the vitality of Catalan in Catalonia was one of extreme minorisation. This article presents the summary data from two recent demoscopic instruments, the Sociopolitical Survey 2024–2 and the Survey of Linguistic Uses of the Population 2023. Based on the interpretation of the data, the author proposes a considered and less speculative interpretation of the current horizon of normality.
